One I hear all the time is relating to the first Hidden Treasure spawn point on level 3 of Cathedral of Flames dungeon, right near where you start. People think that if you kill the mobs first before using Light of Deldrimor, that it will increase the chance that the treasure will appear. They say that if you use LoD before the monsters are all dead, it causes the treasure to be bugged and not appear...

In my experience, its completely random. We all know that location is bugged sometimes (will ping on the map, but not appear when LoD is used at the location), but it has nothing to do with killing the nearby monsters...

LOL, who rezzed this thread? Anyways thanks for the rez. This was a fun thread to read and I see that the urban legends are still in the game.

Heres one I hear way to often from store clerks and non-players and newbie players: You have to own prophecies before adding on any expansion like Factions or NF.

I guess any clerk wanting to make a sale would claim that. Reading the box would help, but that's a big IF.....

My favorite rumor: changing the district to the most obscure in the list before entering an Elite dungeon will cause more drops.

Also the behavior of some pugs in elite areas. After plowing through endless groups without fail, the group encounters a mob that is supposedly invincible, should not be aggroed and because the monks panic the people actually die. The mob itself is not different from all others.

Some people think changing districts in Great Temple of Balthazar gives you better phat lewtz from the Zaishen Chest. Some people don't understand random generation or probability.

Actually, you do. The "true" Urban Legend is that:

"It is pointless to solo without heroes and henchmen, because you don't get any more drops as you would in a full party due to loot scaling."

You can get Varesh, Shiro and the Lich as heroes in Proph. The explaination was very long and beyond wack.

I think that on Normal mode it's false (you get 1/8 of the normal drops), in Hard Mode it is true. Because there is no loot scaling and all loot goes to one person.

One that gets circulated around our alliance is:

The noobier you act in game the better drops you get.

This got circulated when we took a guy into a Dungeon-he kept aggroing everything (despite us telling him not to!), going AFk-basically just being a total noob. Throughout the entire run though, he got about 4 req9's with at least one max mod, and when we got the end chest, he got a req9 Runic Blade (back when they were worth something), while the rest of us got....well...crap.

Ever since then we said that if you want good drops, act like a noob

Tone of people still think that the wait to get into an AB (usually as Kurz) is because of "lack of servers".
